baby in cotSudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) or cot death occurs when a baby less than two years old dies unexpectedly while sleeping.
To reduce your baby’s risk of SIDS, ensure:
• baby sleeps in a safe place – in a cot in your room is the safest
• the environment is smoke free
• baby is not overwrapped and should have their arms free and head uncovered
• baby is put to sleep on their back – not side or stomach
• your baby is breastfed
